The ideal of self-organizing teams is that, almost always, I fear, an ideal. In my personal research on the subject of high performance computers (Have you ever participated in one? - The feeling is 'different' -) I'm working on two main areas:
1) organization people as a team . That is what differentiates a group of people working together in a team? In this line, I am again re-reading the book "Software for your Head ." Difficult book to read for sure, but it seems to hide a treasure hidden in its pages.
The mechanics of a high performance team "can play, inducing, inserted into any group of people with a common goal? The talk in Agiles2008 Jim McCarthy, it seems interesting.
On the other hand, I wonder if the self-organizing team is a chimera. For example, I attended a talk on "Tactics to lead cross-functional teams ", where the speaker said that there can be no self-organizing team leader, except in cases where all the team members are experts in the field in which they work. So this idea reinforces the work of the ScrumMaster as a leader -and coach-in teams using Scrum.
2) raise the level of people on each team . A more personal and technical level of each individual, the team will win exponentially communication, collaboration, and therefore, speed of development.
"Oh, you want to Be an artist? A great artist? "" Yes "" That's easy! Become a great human being And Then paint. "
guess the same applies to a large developer.
can not be a great team of agile development, although not before a great team.
